Acting Learning Mentor - Miss Campbell

What does a Learning Mentor do?

A Learning Mentor works with children on a one-to-one basis or within small groups, offering support, guidance and encouragement, to help children overcome any barriers to their development and learning, in order for them to be able to reach their full potential.

When children are working with the Learning Mentor, their sessions take place outside of the classroom environment, in the "blue room". This space allows children to work in a different environment, enabling them to focus on the purpose of the session. Sessions may focus on developing positive attitudes, raising self esteem and confidence, as well as developing other social and communication skills, to support them both inside and outside of school.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your child please contact the school office via email -  schooloffice@ssppyeadon.org or phone - 0113 323 0419.

Sleeping is crucial for developing the mind of young people. A good nights sleep not only increases levels of happiness within children, but also positively impacts their attention and cognition skills.

Some children may find bedtime particularly difficult, struggling to fall asleep or finding it hard to stay asleep throughout the night.

This may occur different stages of childhood and occur due to different circumstances that a young person is facing.

The resources below offer more insight regarding the importance of sleep as well as advice on how to help children maintain a good sleep cycle as well as different ideas to help with a bed time routine.
